The Story Behind Stilotee: Founder Kallol Sarkar on Passion, Quality and Building a Modern Fashion Brand

How Stilotee Was Born: My Story and Purpose
My name is Kallol Sarkar. I’m from Kolkata, and before Stilotee existed, I spent years working as an IT professional for companies like Wipro, Park Plaza and many other big names. I worked for clients across different sectors, studied how people think, what they want and what they expect. The only problem was simple. Even when I had ideas that were fresh, bold or a little “out of the box,” I couldn’t execute them. Company rules and guidelines always stood in the way.
At some point, that limitation stopped feeling like discipline and started feeling like a cage.
That’s when I realised I needed to build something of my own. Something where my creativity wasn’t filtered through ten levels of approval. Something where I could shape fashion the way people actually feel in real life. That’s how Stilotee was born—out of a desire to create modern, expressive and meaningful style without compromise.
Why I Started Stilotee

I didn’t start this brand to sell just another round of generic T-shirts. I wanted to create designs that connect with emotions, identity and culture. Fashion isn’t fabric. It’s expression.
People love horror movies, but hardly anyone sells good horror graphic tees in India. I’m a horror fan myself. Michael Myers from Halloween is my favourite. Jason from Friday the 13th is right up there too. So I made those designs—because I would wear them myself.
As a Bengali, I’m a lifelong admirer of Satyajit Ray. So creating designs around Feluda, Hirak Raja and other iconic characters wasn’t a “business idea.” It was personal. It was love.
Trendy memes, viral lines, pop culture references—we see them everywhere online. Stilotee turns them into quality apparel you can actually wear. Not prints that fade. Not sloppy graphics. Real, premium pieces that make you feel something.
Quality First. Always.
Anyone can open a T-shirt store today, but not everyone respects the customer.
I’ve learned the value of money. Earning even 100 rupees is tough, so I never compromise on what someone receives for it. That’s why:
- Stilotee uses 100% pure cotton, soft, comfortable and bio-washed.
- My prints stay strong even after 50 washes.
- Instead of using cheap local DTF inks, I import premium inks from different countries. They cost more, but the result speaks for itself.
- I prefer smart work over hard work. If tech helps improve quality, I embrace it fully.
I don’t treat returns or refunds as “loss.” If someone doesn’t like how it looks in the mirror, I refund without arguments. They trusted me enough to buy without trying it on. I respect that.
Most brands treat customers like numbers. Stilotee treats them like people.
Because I don’t sell T-shirts.
I sell emotions. I sell comfort. I sell connection.
Work, Passion and Why I Don’t Need a Holiday
T-shirt designing isn’t just my profession. It’s what I genuinely enjoy doing. I love video editing, photo editing and working late into the night if needed. Some days it’s 3 AM and I’m still designing because the flow feels right.
I also love playing with new technology. AI for me is not a shortcut but an art form. What OpenAI and Google are creating is inspiring. They’ve changed how creators work forever.
Values That Built Stilotee
I have been practicing meditation for more than 15 years as a devotee of The Art of Living. My Guru Sri Sri Ravi Shankar once said, “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam—the world is one family.” I try to run Stilotee with that mindset.
A few principles guide me:
- Clarity in mind
- Sincerity in action
- Purity in heart
- Give 100 percent and surrender the rest
- Never cheat people
- Respect everyone—managers and workers equally
Profit matters, but character matters more.
If I source a product at 1000 and sell it at 1500, I’ll tell the customer I bought it at 1300 and earn 200. But I won’t sell it at 4000 even if I can. That’s cheating. That’s not me.
At the end of the day, Stilotee is a team. If one day it becomes a well-known brand, the credit goes to every person working with me.
The Long-Term Vision

I studied at South Point School, and whenever someone asked, “What do you want to be in the future?” I always said, “I want to be the boss of my own company.” Today I’m living that dream, but this is only the beginning.
- We’re already selling on Amazon, Flipkart and Meesho.
- We print custom T-shirts.
- Offline operations will start from Kolkata in 2026.
- My dream is simple: Stilotee stores across India.
- And one day, a 3-storey mall filled with every product Stilotee offers, all at prices the common middle-class person can afford.
I want Stilotee to reach every corner of the world. Not just as a fashion brand, but as a movement of self-expression.
Our tagline says it all:
Wear Your Vibe.
That’s what Stilotee stands for.
